Finding your dream wedding dress is a thrilling moment, but it may not fit perfectly. Despite selecting the correct size based on your measurements, alterations are often necessary. To ensure your gown looks flawless it will need to be tailored to your body.
I specialise in wedding dress alterations in Tauranga, with extensive experience in gown tailoring. Altering wedding dresses can be intricate due to their unique construction, but you can rely on my expertise. My services include hemming, taking in, tapering, adjusting straps and sleeves, and remodelling your bridal gown to achieve a perfect fit for your special day.
HOW DO ALTERATIONS FOR BRIDAL GOWN PROCEED?
1: Book an Appointment
To make sure your wedding dress is ready on time, please book your appointment 8-10 weeks before your wedding day. Some dresses need more time — especially if you want to make big changes like adding sleeves or a new neckline, or if the dress has many layers, beading, lace over seams, or a structured bodice. Dresses that need to be taken in or let out by two or more sizes will also require extra work and time.
If you’re only after an estimate, please still make a booking using this option. A proper fitting is necessary to provide a quote.
If your wedding is approaching soon and you’re short on time, please contact me directly. I’ll do my best to fit you in depending on availability. A rush fee may apply depending on how urgent and complex the alterations are.
During the busy wedding season, appointments fill up quickly. I take on a limited number of bookings to give each dress the care and attention it deserves — so booking early is highly recommended.
Once you make your booking online, you will receive a text message from me with a link to a form. Please use this form to provide your dress details and any requests or comments.
Your booking will be confirmed once the form is completed. If the form is not submitted within one week, I may need to cancel your booking request, so I appreciate your understanding.
2: Initial consultation
At this appointment, I’ll carefully look over your dress and pin it to see what alterations are needed. We’ll discuss your ideas and I’ll provide a rough quote.
If you decide to go ahead, a $200 deposit is required to secure your booking.
This deposit will be deducted from your final balance. If you decide not to proceed with alterations and would like a quote only, a $50 fitting and consultation fee will apply.
Please bring the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear on your big day — including shapewear.
If you’ll be using a stick-on bra, please wear it so we can get the fit just right.
Wearing clothes that are easy to change out of will help make the fitting smoother.
Wearing a stick-on bra or using tape on your bust at home can make your fitting quicker and more efficient, which may help reduce costs. If you’d like any guidance on applying it, you’re also welcome to do so at the studio.

3: Follow up Fitting
Most brides need 1 to 3 fittings to achieve the perfect fit. If significant adjustments are required for the upper body, the hem fitting will be scheduled as a follow-up after those alterations are completed, as changes to the bodice can affect the final length.
The follow-up fitting is an opportunity to address any concerns, confirm that the adjustments requested at the first fitting have been completed, and see whether the dress looks as you envisioned. If you wish to make any further changes at this stage, please understand that additional requests may incur extra charges.
4: Final Fitting & Collection
Once the final adjustments are made, your dress will be ready for you to take home. At the final fitting, you’ll have a chance to see how it will look on your wedding day. I’ll give the dress a light steam to refresh it before you leave. If you need a garment bag for your dress, I have them available for purchase.
