I’m Shino, the heart and hands behind Shining Style.
For more than 25 years, I have been working in garment alterations here in Tauranga.
Those who have visited my studio know that I truly enjoy what I do.
Ever since I was a child, my dream was to work with sewing overseas, and I feel incredibly grateful that this dream has come true. Every day is fulfilling, and I find so much joy in this work.
I studied dressmaking, garment construction, textiles, dyeing, and more at a fashion institution in Japan, where I gained comprehensive knowledge and skills in sewing, garment making, and fashion.
Garment construction became both my favorite and strongest area.
Alterations are not simply a matter of sewing — they require a deep understanding of a garment’s structure and the ability to find the best solution within its existing design.
With years of experience and knowledge, I take pride in refining each piece so it looks and feels the way it was meant to.
A New Chapter for Shining Style
From January 2026, my main studio has relocated to Pahoia (Whakamarama).
The new space is larger and more comfortable, making your fittings even more relaxing and enjoyable.
Here, I dedicate my time mainly to wedding gowns and more technically refined alterations. Of course, I continue to offer general clothing alterations as I always have.
Originally, the Brookfield studio was planned to close, but due to many requests from my regular clients, it remains open. Brookfield will only handle general clothing alterations, as I prioritize bridal and technical work at Whakamarama. The frequency that Brookfield will be open is still uncertain, but I will do my best to keep it available. During the bridal off-season in winter, it may be open more often.
As the Whakamarama studio is my home-based studio, I have a little more flexibility and may be able to accommodate urgent requests when possible.
I continue to care for each garment with dedication, ensuring your special pieces fit beautifully and comfortably.
Thank you sincerely for your continued support and trust — it truly means so much to me.
I look forward to welcoming you to the new studio and continuing this journey together.
